Reduced from three cars to two with the first class saloon de-classified and newly repainted in blue & grey, a Class 110 DMU with E51810 leading, was paired with a Class 104 on a Manchester Victoria to Southport service at Burscough Bridge on April 8th 1983. Martyn Hilbert.

Intending passengers head towards Class 104 Motor Brake Second M53451, stood at Burscough Bridge with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on April 26th 1986. On the very same day the World had woken up to the news that in the former Soviet Union (Now part of Ukraine), the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster was unfolding that would rapidly see radioactive particles spread in the air across much of Europe. A seemingly well-filled Class 104 two-car DMU formed of DMSL M53507 & DMBS M53534, was departing from Burscough Bridge with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on October 29th 1988. M53534 was one of the very few Class 104 vehicles to carry blue/grey livery. Martyn Hilbert.
